From 15 to 17 September, students from the Medical University of Gdańsk (MUG) took part in a series of educational activities organised by Lietuvos inžinerijos kolegija (LIK), focusing on engineering, environmental research and Lithuanian biodiversity.
On the first day, the students visited LIK’s Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Technology and Faculty of Environmental Engineering. At the Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Technology, they visited the Bosch Training Centre, the Aviation Centre and the Geology and Soil Mechanics Laboratory, where they learned about specialised equipment, practical training opportunities and ongoing research activities.
At the Faculty of Environmental Engineering, MUG students visited the Nature Education and Research Centre, where they were introduced to the principles of landscape design and modern instruments used for land surface observation and measurement. They also explored how modern technologies can be applied to measurements and research in forest environments.
The programme later moved outdoors. At the Botanical Garden, students learned about medicinal plants traditionally used in Lithuania, their properties and applications. During an educational visit to a local forest, they explored local vegetation, observed native and invasive plant species in their natural habitats, and discussed their ecological significance.
The three-day programme brought together engineering, environmental science, modern technologies and biodiversity, providing MUG students with opportunities to gain new knowledge both in LIK’s teaching and research facilities and in Lithuania’s natural environment.
