Erasmus+ for Staff (Outgoing)

Mobility

Erasmus+ staff mobility provides academic and non-academic staff at Lietuvos inžinerijos kolegija HEI with the opportunity to enhance their professional qualifications, deliver lectures, and acquire international experience at foreign research and higher education institutions, enterprises, or organisations. The staff mobility policy is implemented in accordance with the principles of publicity, transparency, and equal opportunities, aligned with LIK HEI's strategic priorities and the need to expand internationalisation in studies. All staff members employed under an employment contract at LIK HEI are eligible to participate in mobility activities.

Exchange opportunities encompass outgoing teaching assignments for the LIK HEI’s academic staff, as well as training visits for academic and administrative staff, including participation in training events (excluding conferences), professional development, or job shadowing at foreign organisations. Provisions are also made for participation in Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs) and for hosting visiting lecturers from foreign higher education institutions and company representatives for teaching or training visits.

Teaching Mobility

Target Group

College Academic Staff: All academic staff members at Lietuvos inžinerijos kolegija (LIK HEI) employed under an employment contract have the right to apply for Erasmus+ teaching visits at foreign higher education institutions.

Teaching Visits Abroad

Teaching visits may only take place at foreign research and higher education institutions with which LIK HEI has concluded an Erasmus+ Inter-institutional Agreement and pre-agreed upon a teaching programme.

Duration of the Visit:

  • In Programme Countries: The duration of physical mobility must be no less than 2 consecutive days and no more than 2 months (the recommended duration of a visit is up to 2 weeks).
  • In Partner Countries: The duration of physical mobility must be no less than 5 consecutive days and no more than 2 months.

A teaching visit must include a minimum of 8 teaching hours per week (if the visit lasts between 6 and 12 days, the required number of hours for an incomplete week is calculated proportionally). If teaching and training activities are combined during the same visit, the minimum requirement is reduced to 4 teaching hours per week.

All outgoing and incoming staff members must be insured. Securing insurance coverage is the sole responsibility of the staff member. Insurance coverage must include health insurance. Personal liability insurance and accident insurance are recommended, but not mandatory.

Other / Blended Mobility

The College may also conduct blended mobility, combining physical mobility with a mandatory virtual component to facilitate e-learning exchanges and collaborative work. Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs), comprising 5–30 days of physical mobility and virtual online collaboration of unspecified duration fall under this format. Furthermore, subject to specific requirements or in instances of force majeure, physical mobility may be replaced by virtual mobility.

Selection for Erasmus+ staff mobility is organized and conducted on a competitive basis to ensure equal opportunities for all academic and non-academic staff at Lietuvos inžinerijos kolegija. The selection process is organized by the International Relations Office, and applications are reviewed by a standing Staff Mobility Selection Committee appointed by order of the Director. The selection of staff to participate in the Erasmus+ mobility programme is organized and announced 4 times a year, depending on the funding allocation schedule. Information regarding calls for applications is disseminated through the International Relations Office and both academic and non-academic departments. In exceptional cases, when it is necessary to undertake urgent visits of strategic importance to the College or a department, or when additional funding becomes available, an extraordinary selection call may be announced.

Shadowing

On-the-job training, during which a LIK HEI staff member observes the daily work, process management, and applied methodologies of a counterpart at a foreign partner institution or enterprise. This format enables the acquisition of practical experience, comparison of operational processes, and implementation of effective solutions within one's own department.

International Staff Weeks

Funding and Reimbursement

Erasmus+ financial support for LIK HEI staff mobility is awarded from European Commission funds, the state budget of the Republic of Lithuania, or other sources, in accordance with the provisions of the relevant year’s ‘Erasmus+’ Programme Guide. The awarded grant is intended to partially cover subsistence and travel expenses during the mobility visit. All selected staff members receive 100% of the calculated grant amount prior to departure.

A fixed support rate is allocated for subsistence costs (daily allowance), which depends on the destination country and the actual number of physical mobility days (activity days and paid travel days). Expenses are calculated according to the rates approved in the ‘Erasmus+’ Programme Guide for the specific grant year.

During a standard visit, if necessary, up to 2 additional paid travel days may be allocated for travel (1 day prior to the activity and 1 day after the activity).

A fixed amount is allocated to cover travel expenses, calculated based on the distance between the place of departure and the place of activity, as well as the chosen mode of travel (green or non-green). The travel distance is determined using the European Commission’s distance calculator.

Green travel is defined as a mode of travel where low-emission means of transport such as trains, buses, or car-pooling (when more than one participant travels in the same car) are used for the main part of the journey (more than half of the route).

Important: Travel by ship/ferry is not considered a green mode of transport.

When opting for green travel, the staff member may be awarded:

  • Additional individual support to cover travel day expenses up to 6 paid travel days may be allocated (up to 3 days prior to the activity and up to 3 days after it).
  • A higher fixed travel expense rate in accordance with the Erasmus+ Programme Guide.

When accounting for green travel, the staff member must provide travel supporting documents (tickets) or a completed declaration of honour.

Additional support for staff with special needs: Teaching and administrative staff with special needs have the right to apply for additional funding to cover actual expenses. No later than 6 weeks prior to the start of the mobility, the staff member submits an application specifying the estimated amount and reasons, along with a medical certificate summary, to the International Relations Office.

Upon completion of the mobility visit, the staff member must submit invoices and proof of payment confirming the actual expenses and their payment.
