ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
Electric Energy programme teaches students how electricity and heat are produced, transferred and used for practical purposes, electrifying homes and commercial buildings using both traditional and alternative sources of energy. Future engineers study physics, mechanics, computer-aided design, power stations and substations, distribution and transmission grids, high and low voltage equipment and its diagnostics, design of electrical networks, etc. The knowledge gained is consolidated and further developed during practical training, which lasts up to 20 weeks altogether and is conducted in five stages: introductory training and electrical works' training, both performed at LIK; professional, technological and final internships performed at partner enterprises.
Students have a possibility to study under the Erasmus+ student mobility programme in higher education institutions of the EU, Norway and Turkey, as well as to perform Erasmus+ traineeships in foreign companies. You can find the full list of LIK partner institutions here
Graduates will be able to work as electricians, energy engineers, electrical systems coordinators and electrical network dispatchers, organise and carry out installation, adjustment, testing and measuring works at power stations, substations, power lines, install consumer electrical equipment, security and automation devices, control measuring systems, repair and maintain electrical equipment and other facilities. The acquired qualification enables students to work as engineers in electricity transmission, distribution and service companies, project and department managers in transmission and distribution network companies, electrical installation organisations and industrial companies, to create their own business.
Students are awarded a Professional Bachelor's degree in Engineering upon completion of their studies and successful defense of graduation thesis. Graduates can continue their studies and obtain a master’s degree.
Citizens of Lithuania or other member countries of the European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA) and their family members, non-EU and non-EEA nationals granted a right of permanent residence in Lithuania, stateless persons and Lithuanian nationals residing abroad can apply through the Centralised Admission Information System and can be accepted to the state-funded study places or claim for scholarships in accordance with the procedures established by the applicable legislation.
Applicants who do not meet the criteria can apply to self-funded studies. Tuition fees for the following intake are listed here.
KTK has one intake per year for studies commencing from September 2nd.
