ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
The Sustainable Construction study programme at LIK prepares forward-thinking construction engineers who are ready to meet the rapidly growing demands of environmental protection, energy efficiency and sustainable development. The programme focuses on modern engineering solutions that minimise environmental impact, promote the use of renewable resources and encourage circular-economy approaches in construction.
Students learn to apply contemporary scientific theories, sustainable construction principles, innovative technologies and design methods. They gain the competencies needed to design buildings, select sustainable structural solutions, assess the life cycle of structures, and implement technological innovations while responding flexibly to changes in the construction sector and business environment.
The programme is aligned with key European strategic directions such as the European Green Deal and the recast of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), which aim for climate-neutral construction and zero-emission buildings by 2030. This ensures that graduates are well-prepared for both Lithuanian and international labour markets, where the demand for sustainability-oriented specialists is rapidly increasing.
Students have a possibility to:
- study abroad under the Erasmus+ student mobility programme in higher education institutions of the EU, Norway and Turkey, as well as to perform Erasmus+ traineeships in foreign companies.
Graduates of the Sustainable Construction programme have strong career opportunities in companies and organisations focused on modern, energy-efficient and environmentally responsible construction. They can work in construction project management, building renovation and modernisation, energy and environmental assessment, supervision of construction works, and the implementation of sustainability solutions in construction projects.
Employment opportunities include construction and consulting companies, real estate development firms, municipal administrations and public institutions. Graduates may also start their own business in construction, renovation or sustainability-related services.
This programme provides the skills needed for a stable and in-demand career in the modern construction sector.
Students are awarded a Professional Bachelor's degree in Engineering upon completion of their studies and successful defense of graduation thesis. Graduates can continue their studies and obtain a master’s degree.
