ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

The Road Engineering study programme at LIK prepares specialists capable of creating safe, smart and durable transport infrastructure. Roads, bridges, railways and pavements play a crucial role in everyday mobility and logistics, and as transport infrastructure receives significant national investment, the demand for engineers who can design efficient road systems, plan and organise construction works, oversee maintenance and ensure cost-effective use of materials and resources continues to grow. Such specialists are highly valued in municipalities, private companies, contracting, consulting and regulatory organisations.

Students learn to apply modern engineering principles, innovative technologies and digital tools used in contemporary road design and construction. They gain the competencies needed to design and model roads and intersections, perform structural calculations, select durable and resource-efficient materials, and apply intelligent transport solutions to improve safety and traffic flow. Their studies cover mathematics, physics, IT, engineering graphics, material science, computer-aided design, road design, surveying, road maintenance and other essential engineering subjects.

The programme focuses on current developments in transport and infrastructure, emphasising safer, more efficient and sustainable road systems. This ensures that graduates are well-prepared for the evolving needs of the construction and transport sectors both in Lithuania and abroad.

Students have a possibility to:

- study abroad under the Erasmus+ student mobility programme in higher education institutions of the EU, Norway and Turkey, as well as to perform Erasmus+ traineeships in foreign companies. You can find the full list of LIK partner institutions here

Graduates of the Road Engineering programme have strong career prospects in companies and organisations involved in the design, construction and maintenance of transport infrastructure. They can work on road design, project preparation, technical supervision, construction planning or maintenance coordination.

Employment opportunities include design and consulting firms, road construction and maintenance companies, municipal administrations and infrastructure management agencies. Graduates may also start their own business in engineering or construction-related services.

This programme provides a solid foundation for a stable and in-demand career in the transport and construction sectors.

Students are awarded a Professional Bachelor's degree in Engineering upon completion of their studies and successful defense of graduation thesis. Graduates can continue their studies and obtain a master’s degree.
