From 12 to 16 October, Lietuvos inžinerijos kolegija HEI (LIK) will host the international ACE²-EU Alliance Applied Blended Challenge (ABC) “Cities That Care: Flood Resilience”. The programme will bring together students from nine countries to explore how cities and communities can prepare for floods, respond to them and mitigate their impacts.
During the programme, students will deepen their knowledge of climate change and flood risk, sustainable construction, urban stormwater management, green infrastructure, hydraulic structures, spatial planning, public health, emergency management and community safety.
Working in international interdisciplinary teams, participants will analyse flood-related challenges faced by different European countries and develop practical solutions for safer, more sustainable and flood-resilient cities. During the on-site week, students will take part in practical activities in Girionys, Kaunas and the Kaunas region, work with maps, meet external stakeholders and have tours.
The programme will combine knowledge from different fields with its practical application, teamwork and the development of solutions to real-world challenges related to the resilience of cities and communities.
