From 25 to 29 May, the Flavour School “Sustainable Outdoor Events: Waste Around and Within Us” is taking place at Latvian Academy of Culture, organised in cooperation with the Laba Daba festival and Getliņi EKO.
The programme is implemented as part of the ACE²-EU initiative and brings together students, academics, and industry professionals from partner institutions, including Lietuvos inžinerijos kolegija HEI and the Medical University of Gdańsk.
The programme explores sustainability challenges in the cultural and festival sector, with a particular focus on environmental impact, waste management and resource reuse, sustainable logistics, public health, audience experience, and the application of circular economy principles in event organisation.
Alongside lectures and masterclasses, participants are working on real-life case studies related to the “Laba Daba” festival, developing proposals on internationalisation, sustainability strategies, audience engagement, and environmentally responsible event management practices.
The programme also includes a visit to Getliņi EKO, where participants will gain insight into innovative waste management solutions and sustainable resource use practices in the Baltic region.
