ACE²-EU: LIK Students Take Part in International “ACTYouth” Program in Portugal

This October, LIK students are participating in ACTYouth – Youth in Action: Young People as Agents of Change in Rural Communities, an international initiative empowering youth to drive positive change in rural areas.
The four-week Applied Blended Challenge (ABC) program combines virtual and in-person learning, bringing together students from across Europe to work in international teams and tackle real-world challenges faced by rural communities.

From September 29th to October 17th, students took part in two weeks of online sessions, followed by an intensive in-person week in Santarém, Portugal. There they engaged directly with local communities, explored the issues affecting rural youth, and co-developed practical solutions aimed at creating lasting impact.

Throughout the program, students not only deepened their understanding of social innovation but also honed essential skills in leadership, creativity, teamwork, and intercultural collaboration.

As the program nears its conclusion, students are now preparing for the final week of reflection and presentations, set to take place online from October 27th–31st.

Through this international initiative, LIK students demonstrated both the skills and mindset needed to take on active roles in shaping more inclusive and resilient communities.
